  1. I'd be very curious to know what brought the 9 rulers together in the first place, and how they were able to maintain the political righteousness and integrity as the council.
    1. The requirements of trade, sharing of knowledge and wishing of society as a whole to prosper is what brought the 9 rulers together. Each representatives of the major settlements across Velandor (Brigit, Danu, Silvania, Arausio, Fjorgynn, Windminster, Oghma, Karin and Duren)
    2. Being in a position where, to break the pact would isolate themselves and their people from key requirements of trade, knowledge and protection. It would have been inadvisable to try to push ones agenda above all others, or to seek their own overly advantageous position.
  2. So if you killed a council member, the power would flow straight to the victor?
    1. To kill a deity would release a mote of raw creation energy which could (if desired) be absorbed immediately by the victor. Or potentially broken into smaller fragment of creation, could result in partial ascension/becoming a half-god)
  3. would there be any risk of jealousy or conflict between the empowered council members?
  4. so if a "god" changed hands, mortals would have no way of knowing the difference?
    1. There was a risk of mortals knowing during the great war. With the deities walking amongst mortals, it would likely be witnessed and whole groups of people could potentially lose access to a source of magic (mainly clerics/paladins of that deity) but since the deities created this protective barrier and locked themselves out, their reduced influence may not go entirely noticed and a new deity may decide to step into their place and avoid risking widespread panic amongst the mortals (or to act as an imposter until such time as they could reveal themselves)
  5. it would be so fascinating to find out how folks even discover the mortality of the gods. Would it be forgotten knowledge that wayward scholars discover, or would it be a guarded secret by religious institutions
